Artworks

Art meets space in the sense of encounter, but also in the sense of emotional touch and movement. Just as every object and every piece of furniture enters into subtle communication with the people involved, so too do artworks interact.

Behind the Artwork: Pop Art Meets the Statue of Liberty

In his iconic screenprint “I Love Liberty”, Roy Lichtenstein reimagines the Statue of Liberty in his unmistakable Pop Art style – bold, vibrant, and graphically precise. The work was created in 1982 as part of the campaign of the same name, “I Love Liberty”, a national television broadcast celebrating American values, initiated by the organization “People for the American Way” under the direction of renowned screenwriter and producer Norman Lear. Lichtenstein employed bright colors, crisp lines, and a striking design. The edition comprises 250 numbered prints along with 73 artist’s proofs and stands as a powerful example of how political messaging and artistic precision can come together in visual art.
